
Alexander Briger
Conductor
An Officer of the Order of Australia, Alexander Briger founded and is Director and Chief Conductor of the Australian World Orchestra, with whom he recorded Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 for Deutsche Grammophon.
He has conducted the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne Festival, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Canadian Opera Company, Royal Danish Opera and Royal Swedish Opera, as well as the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Gothenburg Symphony, Danish Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and all the major Australian symphony orchestras.
Alexander’s operatic repertoire in Australia includes Jenůfa, Madama Butterfly, Così fan tutte, The Cunning Little Vixen, The Marriage of Figaro and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Most recently, he led critically acclaimed performances of Mahler’s Symphony No.9 in Sydney and Melbourne with the Australian World Orchestra, made his debut with the Milan Symphony Orchestra and conducted performances with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra in Munich.
